About this workshop
Blue Ventures received $62m from the Scott Mackenzie Foundation to build sustainable coastal fishing communities across the globe.
To deploy that funding effectively across multiple countries, currencies and sub-grantees, they needed finance and operations infrastructure that could move as fast as they do.
We built it.
During this workshop, Iain Goldmann from Cloud Doing Good shared what that looked like in practice, the decisions that matter most when scaling internationally, and the questions founders and finance leaders are asking today.
The session also explored Cloud Doing Good's work with Media Defence, who fund the legal defence of journalists around the world. When cases emerge, spending has to shift quickly and every change must stand up to funder scrutiny. We shared how AI can support rapid budget reallocation while maintaining full auditability and governance.
Hosted at Norrsken House Barcelona, the event brought together founders, finance leaders and impact organisations to discuss the practical finance infrastructure behind sustainable international growth.

Throughout the workshop, several consistent themes emerged from both the presentations and discussions.
Build finance infrastructure before international expansion
Organisations operating across multiple countries need financial systems that provide visibility, governance and consistency from the very beginning.
AI should enhance decision-making while preserving auditability
The live demonstration showed how AI-generated insights can remain fully traceable back to individual Oracle NetSuite transactions. Efficiency and governance are not a trade-off. They work together when the foundations are right.
Financial reporting should support operational decisions
Finance teams need timely reporting that enables better planning and stronger budget control. Numbers that arrive weeks after the fact are far less useful. Numbers available when decisions need to be made are.
Practical implementation matters more than theory
Real examples from Blue Ventures, Media Defence and Cloud Doing Good showed what finance transformation actually looks like on the ground. Many of the decisions that matter most are made before implementation begins.
Strong finance enables greater impact
