Just because its complex,
doesn’t mean it has to be confusing

The brief

Three different impact organisations were looking to transform their NetSuite experience

The challenges

Table Tennis England, one of a number of sports associations CDG supports, needed to streamline their planning & budgeting processes, including allowing for automated reporting for different funders in different formats.

A hospital trust charity was looking to streamline their end to end fundraising and finance processes, moving to NetSuite as a single system covering CRM, Marketing and all finance functions. This also need to include full fund reporting across 200+ funds, with a two person finance team.

A major disaster recovery, global NGO urgently needed to enhance their reporting and planning of projects spanning geographies and entities.

The service

CDG worked with each organisation to determine how NetSuite would work for each organization’s specific requirements. Crucially, we take a systems accountant approach: focus on the finance data architecture first, as the foundation for accessible, easy to use management reporting.

Common across our charity implementations was improving each organisation’s efficiency, with subsidiaries in far-flung regions working seamlessly across global projects and programmes.

For two of the organisations, a key aspect was seamless integration between the Oracle NetSuite ERP/finance system and the FP&A tool, enabling enhanced FP&A capabilities in addition to the native NetSuite ERP capabilities.

The impact

By streamlining each organisations finance data architecture, finance processes and on premises software pain points, CDG enabled greater efficiency across the organisations to support more projects and programmes.

CDG’s four pillars to FP&A Success

Here at CDG, we work both as integration experts and systems accountants to assist organisations achieve their management accounting outcomes, quickly and painlessly. CDG’s approach has four distinct pillars:

Optimise Oracle NetSuite ERP

Oracle NetSuite ERP has fantastic inbuilt capabilities to assist management accountants in organisations. We help optimise Oracle NetSuite ERP as our first port of call.

Consider FP&A tools

An organisation can reach a point that they need more than their transactional finance/ERP system can provide. After all, a transactional finance system isn’t built to be filled with multiple scenario planning options. We provide insight into the different FP&A tools available and their relative strengths, from a user perspective.

Consider data architecture

Often, we see challenges with FP&A software being a product of underlying data architecture challenges. The solution lies not in the software alone, but to include finance data architecture in any review of FP&A. This is where our systems accountants come in.

Focus on the users

Change management is always a key aspect for successful adoption of new tools. We focus on users and using FP&A tools that seamlessly include an Excel interface.

Why CDG for optimising NetSuite?

CDG has a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team, that combines Oracle NetSuite ERP software, systems accountancy and integration expertise.

We specialise in working with complex, resource constrained, global organisations to optimise NetSuite and deliver enhanced FP&A on time, on budget, every time.

We always start by considering how far we can stretch the fantastic inbuilt power of NetSuite ERP before looking at the need for an additional FP&A module.
